Sunday Morning Funnies

WOW THE BEGINNING OF ANOTHER WEEK

It takes me back to those thrilling days of yesteryear when Sunday morning rolled around. It was always a very choatic scene at the house as the family scrambled to find the dress clothes that we only wore once a week, throw them on, and head up there to the church house like we hadn't just threaten each others lives about three dozens times in the last half hour. My parents loved to take us to Sunday School before church. I believe that they had hopes of us actually learning something. I know for myself I was wishing for a little extra sleep and a good sugary bowl of cereal.

Mom wasn't always the easiest to deal with especially when it came to rushing her to get ready. She would never have the right clothes or pantyhose had a run, or we were just God awful pains in her ass. I have never really been sure where that fits into the getting ready process but apparently it does. Mom used to wear enough perfume for the whole choir. She would buy it in bulk. She kind of looked like the Orkin man with her perfume spraying wand. After about twenty minutes of application the house would look like a poorly ventilated tavern, and smell just like the whores who frequented there. If you would have lit a match in the house the whole place would have gone up in seconds flat. I had asthma as a kid which was cool especially when trying to breathe through a cloud of Jean Nate. Mom was the only person I knew whose shadow would not appear until the fog lifted. Thank God that alcohol evaporates quickly. I am sure that the people at church really appreciated it. I think she was asked a time or two who the visitor was that she brought with her. We all knew it was just a vapor trail. I believe that the halucinations that I have to this day are a direct result of being caught up in "the cloud". I never had a learning disablity, but I am sure it affected me developmentally. I still get choked up when someone has perfume on. I am not sure if I am allergic to the perfume or just have the phantoms in my mind bringing back sweet memories.

I hope that you have a great Sunday, and that the sweet smell of life is all you need to get you by today.

May God continue to bless you through His abudance.
